Suicide Risk Assessment, Treatment & Management by Mark Shorr, LPC, CADC

About this event

Awareness of client potential for suicide is essential for ethical clinical practice. In this training, therapists will learn assessing suicide risk factors, and treatment, including:

  • which diagnoses, risk factors and symptoms should be most concerning

  • the most important elements to document in a suicide risk assessment

  • how to develop a suicide safety plan with a client

  • when higher levels of care are indicated

Mark Schorr has been a licensed professional counselor and certified addictions counselor for more than 30 years. He worked for 15 years for Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare, the region's largest mental health provider. He rose from being a staff clinician to director of training. He worked for eight years for Portland DBT, where he also developed their training program. For the past six years, he has worked at Pacific Premier Group, where a multi-disciplinary team works with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse issues. He has done trainings throughout the Pacific Northwest, in California, New York, and China.

This workshop will take place from 12 -4pm. Mark Shorr will present until 3pm and then there will be a group discussion on the application to our professional settings. OATSA will sponsor a happy hour at 4:30 at a local establishment in Salem. Location TBD.
